Digital Media Academy Improves Productivity of Stanford Staff

Web View | Print View

by Phil Gibson

Every summer for the past 8 years - right here on the Stanford campus - the Digital Media Academy has offered hands-on, five-day courses in topics like web design, video editing, visual graphics, digital storytelling and 3d modeling.

Those at Stanford Who Have Taken the Courses

Virtually every corner of the campus has taken advantage of the professional training DMA offers - the School of Education, the Medical School, the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, Stanford University Libraries and Academic Information Resources, the Academic Technology Specialist Program, the Provosts Office, and Communications - just to name a few.

Jack Hubbard and several colleagues at Stanford News Service have attended over the years, taking each and every Final Cut Pro course DMA offers. "I have been a producer and cameraman for years, but editing completed the picture so to speak. We average over 100 video pieces on the Stanford News web page and it all started with DMA, enabling us to acquire then update our editing and video skills."

Anna Iluk and others at Stanford Continuing Studies have enjoyed DMA's web design courses. "The Digital Media Academy has helped me improve my skills and knowledge, allowing me to streamline my workflow and increase my productivity and contribution to both Continuing Studies and the Stanford Community."

Stanford Staff Eligible for a $585 Discount

It's a little known fact that DMA courses, while priced at $1,385, are available to the Stanford community for only $800 - to match allocated STAP funds available to all Stanford staff. This summer, Digital Media Academy adult courses will be held in the new Munger Conference Center, beginning June 21. For a complete list of courses and dates and to register, visit http://www.digitalmediaacademy.org or call 866.656.3342.
